How long does it take to produce OPP packaging bags?

Hey there! I’m a supplier of OPP packaging bags, and one question I get asked a lot is, "How long does it take to produce OPP packaging bags?" Well, it’s not a one – size – fits – all answer, and there are a bunch of factors that can influence the production time. OPP Packaging Bags

Let’s start with the basics. OPP, or oriented polypropylene, is a popular material for packaging bags because it’s clear, strong, and can be printed on easily. The production process involves several steps, and each step takes its own sweet time.

The Design and Planning Phase

First off, there’s the design and planning part. When a customer comes to me with an order, we need to figure out what they want. This includes the size of the bag, the thickness of the OPP material, and any printing or branding they want on it. If it’s a simple design, it might only take a day or two to finalize. But if it’s a complex design with multiple colors and special effects, it could take a week or more.

I remember one customer who wanted a really intricate logo printed on their bags. We had to go back and forth a few times to get the colors just right and make sure the logo looked good on the OPP material. That whole design process took about two weeks.

Once the design is set, we need to get the materials ready. We order the OPP film from our suppliers, and the delivery time for the film can vary. Usually, it takes about 3 – 5 business days for the film to arrive, but sometimes there can be delays due to supply chain issues or high demand.

The Printing Process

After the materials are in, it’s time for printing. Printing on OPP bags can be done in different ways, like flexographic printing or digital printing. Flexographic printing is great for large – scale orders because it’s fast and cost – effective. For a large order of, say, 10,000 bags, the printing process might take 2 – 3 days.

Digital printing, on the other hand, is more suitable for smaller orders or when you need a high – quality, detailed print. It’s a bit slower, though. If you have a small order of 500 bags with a complex design, the printing could take 3 – 5 days.

The printing process also involves setting up the printing equipment, which can take a few hours to a full day, depending on the complexity of the design. And we always do a test print to make sure everything looks good before we start printing the whole batch.

Bag Making

Once the printing is done, it’s time to turn the printed OPP film into bags. This is called the bag – making process. There are different types of bag – making machines, and the speed of the machine depends on the type of bag you’re making.

For simple flat bags, the bag – making process can be quite fast. A modern bag – making machine can produce hundreds of bags per minute. So, for an order of 10,000 flat bags, it might take a day or two to finish the bag – making process.

But if you’re making more complex bags, like gusseted bags or bags with zippers, it takes longer. The machine has to do more work to create the gussets or attach the zippers. For an order of 5,000 gusseted bags, it could take 3 – 4 days to complete the bag – making process.

Quality Control

After the bags are made, we can’t just send them out right away. We have to do quality control. This means checking each bag for any defects, like holes, misprints, or uneven seams. Quality control is really important because we want to make sure our customers get the best – quality bags.

The time it takes for quality control depends on the size of the order. For a small order of a few hundred bags, it might only take a few hours. But for a large order of 10,000 bags, it could take a full day or more.

Assembly and Packaging

Once the bags pass quality control, we need to assemble and package them. This might involve putting the bags in boxes or bundles, depending on what the customer wants. The assembly and packaging process usually takes a day or two, depending on the order size.

Overall Production Time

So, to sum it up, the overall production time for OPP packaging bags can range from a few days to a few weeks. For a small order of simple bags with a basic design, it might take about a week. But for a large order of complex bags with a detailed design, it could take 2 – 3 weeks or even longer.

For example, if a customer orders 2,000 flat OPP bags with a single – color logo, and we have all the materials in stock, the whole process from design to delivery could take about 7 – 10 days. But if they order 50,000 gusseted bags with a multi – color design, and we have to wait for the materials to arrive, it could take 3 – 4 weeks.

Factors That Can Affect Production Time

There are a few other factors that can affect the production time. One is the time of year. During peak seasons, like the holiday season, our production might be busier, and it could take longer to fulfill orders. Also, if there are any issues with the printing equipment or the bag – making machines, it can cause delays.

Another factor is the customer’s requirements. If they need rush orders, we can usually accommodate them, but it might cost a bit more. And if they have special requests, like using a specific type of ink or a unique bag shape, it can also add to the production time.
